A threaded ball valve (also called a screwed-end ball valve) has female threads on both ends and screws directly onto pipe or fittings. For small bores this is the quickest, most economical connection – ideal for utilities, drains, vents, sampling points and skid-mounted equipment.
Most threaded valves are two-way ball valves: one inlet, one outlet, used for simple on/off isolation. Where you need to divert flow, see our three-way ball valves.
BSP or NPT?
BSP (British Standard Pipe) threads are common in India, Europe and Asia; NPT (National Pipe Taper) threads are common on US-designed equipment. The two are not interchangeable, so please confirm which your pipework uses. We supply both.
One, two or three-piece threaded valves
- One-piece / mini bar-stock – compact and economical, usually reduced bore.
- Two-piece – full or reduced bore, general purpose.
- Three-piece – centre body swings out for maintenance; available with screwed, SW or BW ends.
Installation tips
- Use PTFE tape or a suitable thread sealant on male threads only.
- Hold the valve end hex with a spanner while tightening, never the body or lever.
- Do not over-tighten into fittings – it can distort the body and affect sealing.

Frequently asked questions
What is a two-way ball valve?
A two-way ball valve has one inlet and one outlet and is used to start or stop flow. Most threaded ball valves are two-way.
Do you supply NPT threaded ball valves?
Yes. Threaded ball valves are available with both BSP and NPT threads.
What is the maximum size for threaded ball valves?
Threaded designs are typically used up to 4". For larger lines we recommend flanged or butt-weld valves.
